The maintenance of ideal body weight is extremely important for the health and well-being of an animal. The lack of weight is a symptom of many diseases (diseases of the pancreas, hormonal disorders, \u03bb\u03b5\u03b9\u03c3\u03bc\u03b1\u03bd\u03af\u03b1\u03c3\u03b7, liver disease). The excess of weight (especially at the level of obesity) is also a symptom of diseases (mainly hormonal disorders) or predisposes to them. In the trade there are industrialised foods, specially designed to support loss\/weight gain. These foods are proving to be effective, if it is granted in the prescribed amount and the animal feeds exclusively on these. In everyday practice, this is often not feasible.
